Cranio-Sacral Therapy

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is a non invasive therapy, developed by Osteopath Dr. John Upledger, in the 1980's. Using a very gentle touch, beginning with about the weight of a nickel, C.S.T. releases connective tissue restrictions throughout the body, as well as improve the function of the cranio-sacral system. Connective tissue is the most abundant and most widely distributed tissue in the body. It binds together, supports, and strengthens muscles and bones and attaches muscles to bone. It protects and insulates internal organs, your brain and your spinal chord. By releasing connective tissue restrictions, the entire body relaxes; muscles release their tightness, joint mobility is improved, the bones of the skeleton are in better alignment, and the specialized actions of each organ system may be improved.

The Cranio-Sacral System extends from the skull or the cranium down to the tail bone or sacrum. It also comprises the soft tissues and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal chord. The strains and stresses of everyday life create tensions in our body and mind. Cranio-Sacral Therapy releases those tensions to allow the body to relax and self correct.

Your session begins lying on the massage table, face up, wearing loose fitting clothes and the light pressure applied releases your tension, pain and stress .This method is effective for enhancing health, and strengthening resistance to disease. Cranio-Sacral Therapy can help address fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, chronic pain, arthritis, sinusitis, back pain, scoliosis, eye difficulties, and learning disabilities. The session lasts approximately one hour.
